Anshu Jamsenpa as Mountaineer :
Anshu Jamsenpa, mother of two teenage daughters hailing from Bomdila, a remote border town in Arunachal Pradesh, North East India created two world records and one national record in the field of mountaineering in the month of May 2017 –

1. Fastest woman mountaineer in the world to summit Mt Everest twice in 5 days.
2. First woman in the world to do two Double Ascents of Mt Everest.
3. First Indian woman in the world to summit Mt Everest 5 times.

During the month of May 2014, she scaled three Himalayan peaks (Lobuche 20075 ft., Pokhalde 19343 ft. & Island 20305 ft.) in just 6 days. She has to her credit a total of 13 successful peak summits in just 7 years of her mountaineering career.

Her last mountaineering expedition was flagged off by His Holiness The Dalai Lama from Guwahati on 2nd April 2017. After its successful completion, her expedition was flagged in by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on 5th June 2017.

Immediately after the flag-in programme PM Modi tweeted ”Interacted with mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa, who scaled Mount Everest twice in five days. Her passion towards mountaineering is commendable.”

Anshu Jamsenpa as Actress :
She was the female lead actress in the feature film ‘Crossing Bridges” and the movie went on to win several awards including the National Film Award from the President of India.

On 20th March 2013 she was felicitated by His Excellency The President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee at Rastrapati Bhawan, New Delhi.

She was also felicitated by Dr. Manmohan Singh, the then Hon’ble Prime Minister on 6th July 2011 at 7 Race Course, New Delhi. While showering praises on Anshu for her mountaineering feat the Prime Minister said “You have made whole of India proud. I am amazed that being a mother of two you have made it to the top of the world twice in a span of just 10 days,” Honble Prime Minister also gifted her Rs.5 Lakh as financial incentive for her rmountaineeringfeat.

Chief of the Indian Army, General Bikram Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC felicitated Anshu Jamsenpa at South Block, New Delhi on 3rd June 2013.

Election Commission of India selected Anshu Jamsenpa as State Youth Icon to spread awareness about voters’ rights and to boost participation of the masses in the general elections held from 7 April to 12 May 2014.

Indian Embassy Kathmandu felicitated Anshu Jamsenpa in Kathmandu on 26 May 2014 on her return from 3 peak expedition in Nepal Himalayas which she did in a record 6 days. She unfurled Indian flag on the summit of Lobuche Peak (6119 mtr), Pokhalde Peak (5896 mtr) and Island Peak (6189 mtr) on May 13,16 and 18 respectively.

Anshu Jamsenpa was also felicitated by the Former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on 20th Dec 2011 during a function ‘Clean India Campaign’ organized at Ashok Hotel, New Delhi in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and several Union Ministers . She was also made the Co-Chairperson of Travel Trade Group of Clean India Campaign which was chaired by Indian Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi.

On 31st Jan 2012 Anshu Jamsenpa became the first person from Arunachal Pradesh to be featured in Limca Book of World Records.

Anshu Jamsenpa was made one of the Global Brand Ambassador of “Earth Anthem” on 26th May 2014 in a function held in Indian Embassy Kathmandu. “Earth Anthem” produced by Indian diplomat Abhay Kumar IFS in eight world languages has been hailed by UNESCO as a creative and inspiring initiative that would contribute bringing the world together.

Ministry of Tourism & Civil Aviation, Government of Nepal felicitated Anshu Jamsenpa in Kathmandu on 1st June 2011.

She was felicitated by Assam Chief Minister Shri Tarun Gogoi on 4th June'11 at Guwahati followed by Governor of Arunachal Pradesh General J J Singh and Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin on 6th June'11 at Itanagar, Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh on 20 June'2011 at Imphal and West Bengal Sports Minister Madan Mitra on 23rd July'2011 at Kolkata.

In recognition of her mountaineering feat Anshu Jamsenpa was given standing ovation by the dignitaries and delegates during the 2nd Regional Conference of Tourism Ministers from East & North East India held at Shillong on 18th Nov 2011. Chief Guest Subodh Kant Sahai, Union Tourism Minister while congratulation her went on to suggest her name for appointment as Goodwill Ambassador of North East India Tourism.

On 19th Nov 2011 Dr Mukul Sangma Chief Minister of Meghalaya invited Everester Anshu Jamsenpa for an interactive discussion on the possibilities of promoting Adventure Tourism in the State of Meghalaya. The Chief Minister was keen on training the students and the youths in the field of Adventure Sports and Adventure Tourism under her guidance.

On 2nd Dec 2014, Ministry of Home Affairs Govt of India nominated Anshu Jamsenpa as one of the members of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a flagship programme initiated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Lovely Professional University Jalandhar Punjab, the largest university in India appointed Anshu Jamsenpa as its Brand Ambassador on 15th April 2015.

AWARDS & RECOGNIZATIONS :

Young Indian Leader Award 2011:
Anshu was conferred the CNN-IBN “Young Indian Leader Award” in New Delhi on 30th June 2011. She received the prestigious award from Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Govt of India.

Adventurer of the Year 2011:
She was also conferred with the prestigious 'Adventurer of the Year' Award instituted by Adventure Tour Operators Association of India. She received the award from Shri Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir on 12 September 2011 in Srinagar.

Arunachal Pradesh State Gold Medal 2011-12
On 20th Feb 2012 she was decorated with Arunachal Pradesh State Gold Medal by Union Defence Minister A K Anthony during Arunachal Statehood Day Celebration at Itanagar.

Woman Achiever of the Year 2011-12
On 2nd June 2012 Anshu Jamsenpa was awarded Woman Achiever of the Year 2011-12 by the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) in Guwahati.

On 31st Jan 2012 Anshu Jamsenpa became the first person from Arunachal Pradesh to be featured in Limca Book of World Records.

IVLP Woman & Entrepreneurship Programme, USA 2012-13
His Excellency the US Ambassador Peter Burleigh invited Anshu Jamsenpa for an exclusive Lunch Meeting on 23rd Feb 2012 at Itanagar. The US Consul General Dean Thompson who had accompanied the Ambassador informed her during the meeting that she had been nominated and selected for ‘IVLP USA 2012-13’ programme instituted by the Government of USA with all expenses paid trip to USA.

ICC Sports Excellence Award 2013
On 22nd Nov 2013 she was conferred with ICC Sports Excellence Award 2013 by Pawang Singh Gothewar, Union Minister of DoNER at Dibrugarh University Auditorium, Dibrugarh. In the presence of The Ambassador of Indonesia, Consul General of Italy, US Deputy Chief of the Mission, Consul General of France, Singapore High Commissioner, etc.

Tourism Icon of the Year Award 2015-16
On 31st Jan 2017 she was conferred with Tourism Icon of the Year Award by Government of Arunachal Pradesh in a glittering function held at I G Park Itanagar which was attended by Governor P B Acharya as Chief Guest.

Mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa, mother of two hailing from Bomdila, a remote town in Arunachal Pradesh, India created a mountaineering record by climbing and unfurling the national tri colour on Mt. Everest on 12th May 2011 and again on 21st May 2011. She is the first mother in the world to summit the world’s highest peak twice in a span of just 10 days.

She once again unfurled the national flag on the summit of Mt Everest on 18 May 2013 thus she became the only Indian woman mountaineer to climb the world’s highest peak thrice.

She was felicitated at Kathmandu by the Ministry of Tourism & Civil Aviation, Government of Nepal on 1st June 2011 followed by Assam Chief Minister on 4th June'11 at Guwahati, the Governor and Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh on 6th June'11 at Itanagar, Manipur Chief Minister and Sports Minister on 20 June'2011 at Imphal and West Bengal Sports Minister on 23rd July'2011 at Kolkata.

Being an adventurer from a remote North East India, she has been a strong propellant of adventure sports and adventure tourism in the region. She has advocated for early commissioning of National Institute of Mountaineering & Allied Sports (NIMAS) which is coming up at Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh. She has also taken up the issue of opening the virgin Arunachal peaks like Mt. Kangto 7090 mtr. Mt. Nyegi Kangsang 7050 mtr. Mt Gorichen 6488 mtr. etc for mountain climbing & expeditions. In this regard she has already met and appraised the Defence Minister A K Anthony on 4th July’11, Union Minister of Development of North East Region B K Handique on 30th June’11 and Director IMF Col JP Bhagtjee (Retd) on 2nd July’11.

Anshu was also conferred with “Young Indian Leader Award” in New Delhi on 30th June 2011. She received the prestigious award from Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry in recognization of her record mountaineering achievement.

Everester Anshu Jamsenpa was also conferred with the prestigious 'Adventurer of the Year' Award by Shri Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir on 12 September 2011 in Srinagar.

She was also felicitated during Brain Jam 2011 held at Guwahati on 13th Nov last. Jam packed audience cheered her when video clips of her Everest Expedition came alive on the big screen.

Mission & Vision
Anshu Jamsenpa is keen on starting an adventure institute in Arunachal Pradesh fully devoted to the development of adventure sports and adventure tourism. She is also planning to train students and youths in mountaineering and other adventure activities so that this little known North East region can come at par with the other developed states of India in the field of adventure activities. She wants to tap the vast potential that NE region offers for the benefit of present and future generation.
