Mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa, mother of two hailing from Bomdila, a remote town in Arunachal Pradesh, India created a mountaineering record by climbing and unfurling the national tri colour on Mt. Everest on 12th May 2011 and again on 21st May 2011. She is the first mother in the world to summit the world’s highest peak twice in a span of just 10 days.

She once again unfurled the national flag on the summit of Mt Everest on 18 May 2013 thus she became the only Indian woman mountaineer to climb the world’s highest peak thrice.

She was felicitated at Kathmandu by the Ministry of Tourism & Civil Aviation, Government of Nepal on 1st June 2011 followed by Assam Chief Minister on 4th June'11 at Guwahati, the Governor and Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh on 6th June'11 at Itanagar, Manipur Chief Minister and Sports Minister on 20 June'2011 at Imphal and West Bengal Sports Minister on 23rd July'2011 at Kolkata.

She was also felicitated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on 6th July 2011 at 7 Race Course, New Delhi. While showering praises on Anshu for her mountaineering feat the Prime Minister said “You have made whole of India proud. I am amazed that being a mother of two you have made it to the top of the world twice in a span of just 10 days,” The Prime Minister also gifted her a cheque of Rs.5 Lakhs as financial incentive for her mountaineering feat.

Being an adventurer from a remote North East India, she has been a strong propellant of adventure sports and adventure tourism in the region. She has advocated for early commissioning of National Institute of Mountaineering & Allied Sports (NIMAS) which is coming up at Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh. She has also taken up the issue of opening the virgin Arunachal peaks like Mt. Kangto 7090 mtr. Mt. Nyegi Kangsang 7050 mtr. Mt Gorichen 6488 mtr. etc for mountain climbing & expeditions. In this regard she has already met and appraised the Defence Minister A K Anthony on 4th July’11, Union Minister of Development of North East Region B K Handique on 30th June’11 and Director IMF Col JP Bhagtjee (Retd) on 2nd July’11.

Anshu was also conferred with “Young Indian Leader Award” in New Delhi on 30th June 2011. She received the prestigious award from Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry in recognization of her record mountaineering achievement.

Everester Anshu Jamsenpa was also conferred with the prestigious 'Adventurer of the Year' Award by Shri Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir on 12 September 2011 in Srinagar.

She was also felicitated during Brain Jam 2011 held at Guwahati on 13th Nov last. Jam packed audience cheered her when video clips of her Everest Expedition came alive on the big screen.

In recognition of her mountaineering feat Everester Anshu Jamsenpa was given standing ovation by the dignitaries and delegates during the 2nd Regional Conference of Tourism Ministers from East & North East India held at Shillong on 18th Nov 2011. Chief Guest Subodh Kant Sahai, then Union Tourism Minister, Govt of India while congratulation her went on to suggest her name for appointment as Goodwill Ambassador of North East India Tourism.

On 19th Nov 2011 Dr Mukul Sangma Chief Minister of Meghalaya invited Everester Anshu Jamsenpa for an interactive discussion on the possibilities of promoting Adventure Tourism in Meghalaya State. The Chief Minister was keen on training the students and the youths in the field of Adventure Sports and Adventure Tourism under the guidance of Anshu Jamsenpa.

Everester Anshu Jamsenpa was felicitated by Ministry of Tourism Govt of India on 20th Dec 2011 during a function ‘Clean India Campaign’ organized at Ashok Hotel, New Delhi. Former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam felicitated her in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and several Union Ministers. She was also made the Co-Chairperson of Travel Trade Group of Clean India Campaign which was chaired by Indian Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi.

On 31st Jan 2012 she became the first person from Arunachal Pradesh to be featured in Limca Book of Records.
On 20th Feb 2012 she was decorated with Arunachal Pradesh State Gold Medal by Union Defence Minister A K Anthony during Arunachal Statehood Day Celebration at Itanagar.

On 23rd Feb 2012 she was invited for an exclusive Lunch Meeting with His Excellency The Ambassador of United States of America Sir Peter Burleigh at Itanagar. The Consul General Dean Thompson who had accompanied the Ambassador informed that Anshu Jamsenpa has been nominated for an International Women Achiever’s Award instituted by the Government of USA.

On 2nd June 2012 Everester Anshu Jamsenpa was felicitated with Woman Achiever of the Year 2012 by Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) at Guwahati.

On 20th March 2013 she was felicitated by H E The President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee at Rastrapati Bhawan, New Delhi.

General Bikram Singh, Chief of the Indian Army felicitated Anshu Jamsenpa in South Block New Delhi on 3rd June 2013.

On 22nd Nov 2013 she was conferred with ICC Sports Excellence Award 2013 by Pawang Singh Gothewar, Union Minister DoNER at Dibrugarh University Auditorium, Dibrugarh during the inuagural function of 9th North East Business Summit.

 
Mission & Vision
Anshu Jamsenpa is keen on starting an adventure institute in Arunachal Pradesh fully devoted to the development of adventure sports and adventure tourism. She is also planning to train students and youths in mountaineering and other adventure activities so that this little known North East region can come at par with the other developed states of India in the field of adventure activities. She wants to tap the vast potential that NE region offers for the benefit of present and future generation.
